ABOUT US
Our blankets are woven one by one by passionate women from different parts of Chile, who have inherited the craft of loom weaving, considered part of our country's cultural heritage.
In each region of our country, we find different types of blankets: some 100% alpaca, others 100% sheep, and in the center, a mixture of both, achieving a great wealth of textile craftsmanship, which you can find at La Manta Chilena.
Let's support our artisans and keep our cultural identity alive.
NORTH ZONE
In northern Chile, a group of Aymara women have maintained for generations the ancestral tradition of spinning their alpacas' fur to weave their traditional clothing and protect themselves from the extreme cold of the Altiplano.
The art of spinning is a tradition taught by mothers and grandmothers to children from a very young age. They first learn how to herd their alpacas, then turn their fleece into delicate threads with the help of their puska—the wooden spindle in Aymara—with the virtuoso dance of their hands and the music of the altiplano winds, weaving these wonderful blankets that are centuries old in culture.
All their blankets are 100% natural and the colors are dyed by boiling mountain herbs and using high plateau salt as a fixative.
DOWNTOWN AREA
This space for creation, intimacy, and encounter brings together rural artisan women who, in a small town in the central region of our country, bring these beautiful blankets to life with their yarns.

The soft textures of these blankets, along with their delicate designs and colors dyed with natural pigments, are lightweight and warm, the result of the perfect combination of alpaca and sheep wool.
